MG HS is discounted by up to 120 million VND at dealers: The standard version is now just over 580 million VND, cheaper than the Sonet despite being similar in size to the Sportage

Although it was only launched at the beginning of the year, the 2024 MG HS has already seen significant price reductions from dealers.
MG HS is now priced similarly to A-segment cars

An MG dealer in Ha Long is offering significant discounts on the HS model. According to sales staff, the Deluxe version of the MG HS is reduced by 117 million VND to just 582 million VND. Meanwhile, the Luxury version is reduced by 120 million VND, from 749 million to 629 million VND.

HS Luxury749 million VND629 million VND120 million VND

Additionally, customers purchasing the MG HS will receive a complimentary accessory package. This promotional program varies by dealer and is not from the manufacturer, so discounts may differ between locations.

After the price reduction, the MG HS not only competes with rivals such as the Mazda CX-5, Hyundai Tucson, and Kia Sportage, but its price is also lower than many A and B-segment models. For example, the Mitsubishi Xforce Exceed version has a listed price of 640 million VND, and the Hyundai Creta Special Edition is priced at 650 million VND, while the standard version of the HS is priced at only 599 million VND. In the A-segment, the highest-priced Kia Sonet is 624 million VND.

Some opinions suggest that the discounted price of the HS could affect the "younger sibling" MG RX-5 (739-829 million VND). However, the RX5 is currently being offered by many dealers with discounts of up to 180 million VND, making its price much lower than the HS.

Currently, the biggest competitor of the MG HS in the Vietnamese market is the Mazda CX-5. In the first half of 2024, Mazda's C-segment SUV sold 5,270 units, capturing over 37.2% of the segment's market share. It was followed by the Ford Territory (2,949 units) and the Honda CR-V (2,338 units).

What does the MG HS offer in Vietnam?

The 2024 MG HS was launched in the Vietnamese market at the end of January 2024. This is the second time that dealers have implemented major price cuts for this model, just over three months after its launch.

The new version of the HS is a facelift upgrade with some changes in the exterior, including a new LED interface, a large grille with a style similar to the MG5, and new 18-inch 5-spoke wheels. The overall size and design of the car remain the same as the old version, previously sold by the former distributor.

The interior of the new MG HS has not changed much from before. Some notable convenience features in the car include a fully digital display behind the steering wheel, a 10-inch central screen, Bose sound system, sports-style seats, dual-zone automatic air conditioning, and a panoramic sunroof.

The engine remains unchanged, with a 1.5L turbocharged engine producing 168 horsepower and 275 Nm of torque, accompanied by a 7-speed wet dual-clutch automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. The facelift version has removed the 2.0L turbocharged engine option.

The 2024 MG HS comes with notable safety features such as a 360-degree camera, rear sensors, automatic headlights, ABS, EBD, and 6 airbags. In particular, the Luxury version is equipped with an advanced safety package including adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, forward collision warning, emergency braking support, blind spot warning, and safe exit warning.
