Hyundai Ioniq 9 - The largest and most expensive electric SUV from the company is set to debut in November

Published by on
The Ioniq 9 is Hyundai's first three-row electric SUV, marking a significant milestone in the company's electric vehicle development strategy.

Hyundai is set to unveil this large electric SUV, named the Ioniq 9, at the upcoming Los Angeles Auto Show. According to initial information, this vehicle is developed based on the SEVEN concept that debuted at the same show in 2021.

The Ioniq 9 will be Hyundai's first electric SUV with three rows of seats, built on the E-GMP platform.

Currently, the Ioniq 9 has completed the trial production phase at Hyundai's Asan plant in South Korea. The next step is the final quality checks before transitioning to production at Hyundai's new Meta plant in Georgia, USA, expected to be completed by the end of this year. Local production is considered crucial to meet the high demand for large electric SUVs in the U.S. market.

Unlike previous products, Hyundai has taken a strategic step by renaming the vehicle from Ioniq 7 to Ioniq 9. This change is not just a new number but reflects Hyundai's larger goals. The Ioniq 9 promises to be the largest, most luxurious electric SUV, offering spaciousness and advanced technology.

The number 9 in the name is seen as a symbol of this vehicle's top position within Hyundai's product lineup, clearly defining the hierarchy within the company's offerings.

Moreover, this name change creates more room for other important vehicles in Hyundai's broader strategy to lead the electric vehicle market. Since the SEVEN concept was introduced, the automotive industry has been accustomed to calling it the Ioniq 7, and Hyundai maintained this name until the final stages of development. Therefore, the company decided not to announce this information until it had officially confirmed the name change.

Hyundai has high expectations for the Ioniq 9, viewing it not only as an electric SUV but also as a symbol of the new era of electric mobility.
