Mitsubishi unveils new SUV for the first time: Design shares many similarities with Xforce, 7-seater, expected to launch in October in Southeast Asia

Mitsubishi is preparing to introduce a new 7-seater SUV concept with an "adventure" theme at the end of October, with the vehicle expected to hit the market between 2025 and 2026.

In early October, Mitsubishi Philippines surprised many by announcing it would host the global debut of a completely new model. This marks the first time the Philippines has been chosen as the launch site for a global debut by the Japanese brand.

The vehicle is confirmed to be a 7-seater SUV concept. For now, the company has only released two teaser images, with limited views focused on the C-pillar and the front of the car. The C-pillar image reveals a unique multi-layer design and a rear light that extends into the side of the vehicle, while the body features bold, muscular lines.

The front image showcases a familiar design with an X-shaped grille and front bumper. The headlights bear a strong resemblance to the Xforce, raising the possibility that this could be a 7-seater version of that model.

According to Mitsubishi, the concept represents their vision for future vehicles, where "every journey feels as comfortable as being at home" and "every adventure becomes a family bonding experience."

The new vehicle might be a larger 7-seater version of the Xforce or potentially a draft of the new Pajero (or Pajero Sport, though this seems less likely), based on the "adventure" aspect in Mitsubishi's description. The current Pajero Sport was first released in 2015 and has been facelifted twice (in 2019 and 2024), while the Pajero was discontinued in 2021 but is reportedly making a comeback.

Mitsubishi Philippines will continue to reveal details about this 7-seater SUV leading up to its full debut at the Philippines International Motor Show (PIMS) 2024, taking place from October 24 to 27.
