VinFast renames several models, hinting VF e34 is exclusively for taxi services

At the start of the new year, VinFast unexpectedly announced a renaming of several electric vehicle versions.

In early 2025, the company revealed that the renaming was aimed at "better reflecting the product development direction."

Specifically, the VF 6 S has been renamed VF 6 Eco, VF 7 S to VF 7 Eco, VF 8 S Lux to VF 8 Eco, and VF 8 Lux Plus to VF 8 Plus. Notably, the VF e34 has been renamed Nerio Green.

Interestingly, this marks the second time some of these models have undergone a name change. Back in April of last year, VinFast renamed the VF 6 Base to VF 6 S and the VF 7 Base to VF 7 S. In July, the VF 8 S Lux and VF 8 Lux Plus were also renamed but have now reverted to their previous names.

Despite the changes, the prices remain unchanged. According to VinFast’s official website, the VF 6 Eco is priced from VND 675 million to 765 million, depending on whether the battery is rented or purchased. The VF 7 Eco is priced between VND 850 million and 999 million. The VF 8 Eco is listed at VND 1.17 billion to 1.38 billion, while the VF 8 Plus ranges from VND 1.359 billion to 1.569 billion.

For the VinFast VF e34, the new name, Nerio Green, suggests it is the first model in the Green lineup, designed specifically for ride-hailing and commercial services. Although it remains available for individual buyers, VinFast appears to be steering this C-segment SUV toward long-term service use.

Additionally, vehicles with the Eco suffix may also be positioned for service use in the future, potentially making them less accessible—or inaccessible—to individual consumers. However, this remains a speculative observation.
