After July, the Vietnamese auto market continued to welcome more Chinese car models, including a brand making its first appearance.
MG7

The newest model to be launched in the Vietnamese market is the MG7, which debuted on August 28. This is one of the most anticipated models by local customers, as dealers had teased and announced the launch schedule since last year.

The MG7 is available in Vietnam in three versions. The standard version is priced at 739 million VND, while the two higher-end versions are priced at 898 million VND and 1.018 billion VND.

The MG7 is sized similarly to D-segment sedans like the Toyota Camry, Mazda6, and Kia K5. Its exterior stands out with a sporty coupe design, large 19-inch wheels, and an electronic rear spoiler.

This model is equipped with many modern features inside, including a large dual-screen setup, Bose sound system, steering wheel with integrated sports mode activation buttons, electronic parking brake, electronic gear shift, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a panoramic sunroof.

The highest-end version comes with a 2.0L turbocharged engine producing 227 horsepower, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The 1.5L turbocharged version delivers 167 horsepower.

In terms of safety technology, the car is notable for its 360-degree camera and ADAS features.

Suzuki XL7 Hybrid

Suzuki XL7 is the only non-Chinese car model in this list. The vehicle is imported to Vietnam with some upgraded features, making it a mild facelift. The starting price is 599.9 million VND.

On the exterior, the 2024 XL7 has minor differences from the previous version, mainly in the front logo and some black-painted details. The model also comes with new color options in contrasting two-tone finishes.

Some upgrades on the 2024 XL7 include a 10-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity, a new instrument cluster interface, automatic LED headlights, auto-folding side mirrors, and cruise control.

The hybrid engine is similar to that on the Ertiga, featuring a 1.5L engine combined with a small electric motor to assist in acceleration, still paired with a 4-speed transmission.

GAC M8

GAC M8 is a new minivan from China with a premium price tag. The standard version is priced at 1.699 billion VND, while the highest-end version is priced at 2.199 billion VND, comparable to the German VW Viloran.

The M8 is quite large, with a length of 5,215 mm, and is distinguished by its large front grille. The design is similar to the Toyota Alphard, with sliding side doors.

The M8 impresses with a luxurious interior, including rear business-class seats with heating, cooling, and 10-point massage functions with adjustable intensity. At the front are 12.3-inch and 14.6-inch touchscreens. The vehicle also features a panoramic sunroof with a starry sky effect.

The M8 is powered by a robust 2.0L turbocharged engine with 248 horsepower, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

For safety technology, the M8 is equipped with an ADAS package and a 360-degree camera.

GAC GS8

GAC GS8 is a more affordable option and is an SUV. The starting price is from 1.269 billion VND, with the highest-end version priced at 1.369 billion VND, comparable to the Ford Everest.

The GS8 has a different design compared to the M8, despite being from the same brand. The front lights are highlighted by a 4-lens cluster, and the large grille is much more compact than on the M8. The vehicle comes with 19-20 inch wheels, depending on the version.

The GS8 shares many interior features with the M8, including the dual screens of 12.3 inches and 14.6 inches, an 8-speaker sound system, and a 3-zone automatic climate control system. It also has a panoramic sunroof.

The GS8 uses the same engine as the M8, with 248 horsepower, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. However, this SUV does not offer an all-wheel-drive option.

In terms of technology, the GS8 also comes with the ADAS package similar to the M8.
